Lars Larsson is a National Geographic explorer and researcher working on Sweden's Sven Hedin Project, which aims to trace century-long changes in landscapes across the Silk Road. His methodologies involve GIS, repeat-photography, and historical ecology, undertaking to videograph and re-photograph key glass plates held by Stockholm's Museum of Ethnography.
Larsson and his team search for the exact locations where Hedin’s photographs were taken in order to capture new images that precisely match the old ones, thereby visually documenting the biological and cultural changes of these areas since Hedin's original expedition.
